Registration Numbers & Classifications

Registration numbers consist of a classification letter/s and five numbers. Registration number must be listed as such at all times. Class determination is made by NAAKR.

• K - Purebred dogs whose parents are Class K registered, or offspring of Class K registered dog bred to Class A registered dog, or dogs registered with Working Kelpie Council of Australia, Inc. or National Stock Dog Registry, Inc. whose lineage denotes it can be registered under Class K.

• KS - Purebred dogs whose parents are Class K registered, or offspring of Class K registered dogs with one parent SHOW lineage.

• E - Entry level for purebred unregistered dog of one or both unregistered parents.

• B - Offspring of Class E dog bred to Class K dog, or unregistered dog whose lineage denotes it can be registered as Class B.

• A - Offspring of Class B dog bred to Class K dog, or unregistered dogs whose lineage denotes it can be registered as Class A.

• Ref -  Denotes dog is recorded only as a reference.

• N - Dogs registered and/or sold as non-breeding stock and altered dogs.  please note that as of july 30, 2000 there is no longer a non-breeding classification.  this is the responsibility of the breeder.

Classification Name Prefixes

• SHOW - Denotes bench or show bred Kelpie.  This is used by NAAKR and by WKC.

• S/Bred - WKC name prefix S/Bred (station bred) denotes a dog and it’s parents look like Kelpies, but there are no records or back breeding.

• R/Bred - NAAKR name prefix R/Bred (ranch bred) denotes a dog and it's parents look like Kelpies, but there are no records or back breeding, or that a dog and it's  parents are registered or registerable and/or may be from imported S/Bred dogs.

Offspring of Class A, B or E dogs mated will be lowest classification of parent or same. As information accumulates or regulations change, corresponding registrations will change also.

Individual Dog Registration

Name of Dog

Select a 1st and 2nd choice name.  Name must not exceed 24 spaces.  This includes a kennel prefix or classification name prefix such as "S/Bred, R/Bred, SHOW, etc.

Your dog will be registered with the kennel prefix of the breeder you purchased the dog from.  You may not add your prefix after the breeder's prefix.

Imports will be noted with an asterisk before their name which also counts as a space. (Must have copy of exportation papers or foreign registration certificate.)

If you are registering a dog all ready registered with another registry, that registered name will be the name used.  If dog has had a name change, if known, first registered or the original name will be used.

If your dog is registered with more than one registry, the name used for this registry will be from the following registries in this order - Working Kelpie Council of Australia, Inc., National Stock Dog Registry, Inc., all others.

Fee is $10.00 per dog.

Photographs

Photographs are required with all individual registration applications. Two photographs - one standing side view and one front view. Color photos preferred.

Photographs will become part of NAAKR permanent file on dog and will not be returned. Photos may be used in NAAKR printed materials, i.e. stud books, information brochure, updates, etc. Users are encouraged to send additional photographs (working or stills) for the previously mentioned printed materials.

Attach a photocopy of registration certificate/s if dog registered with another registry or registries. If dog has not been previously registered, attach, if possible, photocopy of registration certificates of both the sire and dam. You may be asked for a notarized affidavit from the breeder. This information is pertinent in determining dogs registration classification.

Attach a photocopy of export certificate on imports. This information is pertinent in determining dogs registration classification.

Lack of Merit

NAAKR reserves the right to refuse registration of any dog or litter for lack of merit (dog/s do not conform to breed standard) and/or to classify a dog as Class E, B or A that may meet the criteria for Class K but lacks merit.

Litter Registrations

NAAKR registered Sire and Dam

Dog or dogs registered with other registries are not recognized as "registered NAAKR sire and dam."  Fee is $8.00 for each puppy in litter..

• Litter must be registered by six months of whelping date to receive litter registration fees. After six months of age individual registration fees apply.

• Must have stud owner’s verification of service.

• List name, sex, color, markings and any tattoo of puppies.

• List owner name and address as it is to appear on registration certificate and check box if to be mailed directly to owner.

Fee is $10.00 for each puppy in litter.

• List as complete information as possible, including 3 or more generation pedigree on sire and dam.

• Attach photocopy of registration certificates of sire or dam if possible.

• Photographs may be required. You will be notified.

• List name, sex, color, markings and any tattoo of puppies.

• List owner name and address as it is to appear on registration certificate and check box if to be mailed directly to owner.

Duplicates & Transfers

Duplicate Registration Certificates will be issued only in the name of recorded owner upon receipt of a signed and notarized affidavit from that individual that the original certificate has been lost or destroyed. Fee $7.00.

Transfers of Ownership will be made only with Registration Certificate. Transfers made within 60 days of transfer date - $7.00. Transfers made after 60 days of transfer date - $10.00.

Tattoos

• Tattoo prefix 2-3 letters of applicant’s choosing. You will be notified if this series or combination is all ready registered.
• No prefix shall be accepted for registration if it is similar to any other prefix, is misleading, or if, for any reason, it is considered by NAAKR to be unsuitable or objectionable.
• The letter "l" will not be permitted as a last initial.
• Tattoo series or combinations which have been inactive for a period of seven years or more may be reassigned at the discretion of NAAKR.
• Fee $1.00

Kennel Prefix Registration

• Kennel prefix may be registered with NAAKR insuring this prefix can only be used by you with this registry.
• Prefix shall consist of one word or words not exceeding fifteen (15) spaces.
• No prefix shall be accepted if it is similar to any other prefix, is misleading, or if for any other reason it is considered to be unsuitable or objectionable.
• No renewal fee, unless there has been no activity within a five year period.
• Fee $15.00.

Important Notes

• REGISTRY HOURS.  Registry is home-based. Call at any reasonable time (CST). There is a telephone answering machine, please use it.  Note that we work outside of the home.

• POSTMARKS will serve as official receipt dates.

• FEES payable to NAAKR in U.S. funds only. Check or money orders accepted. Checks must have complete name and address information listed on them. Include daytime and evening phone number.

• EXTENDED PEDIGREES. If available, an extended three generation pedigree is $10.00.

• ALL CERTIFICATES are issued with the right to correct or revoke.

• TATTOO is a means of positive and permanent identification of a dog. Tattoo numbers will be listed on dogs registration certificate and location recorded. If tattoo is registered with an organization, list name and address.

• AUTHENTICITY and accuracy is only as good as the genuineness of the person or persons supplying the information. NAAKR will keep accurate records of all information received. If you have a question or conflicting information pertaining to any dog, contact NAAKR immediately.

• FRAUDULENT practices. NAAKR will revoke registration certification for individual dogs and/or refuse to register dogs bred and/or owned by individuals who have committed any infraction of the rules and regulations.

• NO CHANGE in, or alteration of, a certificate of registration, listing or identification shall be made except by NAAKR upon proper showing of the necessity for such change or alteration, by reason of mistake or the like, or change in color or markings; nor shall any person display or advertise or have in his possession any such certificate that has been changed or altered otherwise than by NAAKR.

• ADVERTISING NAMES. No person shall advertise any dog registered or listed with NAAKR by a name other than that by which it is registered or listed.

• No person, firm or corporation shall issue, sell, exchange, give away or receive, or offer to do any thereof, any false or fraudulent certificate, representing the same to be a genuine official certificate issued by NAAKR.

• No person shall represent as a registered NAAKR dog, any dog other than the dog for which said certificate was issued.

• The privilege is reserved to exclude breeding of doubtful authenticity and to decline registrations of dogs emanating from any person or kennels known to have given false information regarding pedigrees of dogs.

Registry Procedures Regarding Invalid Certifications

Certificates may be rendered invalid for any of the following reasons:

• · RETURNED CHECKS OR OTHER FORM OF PAYMENT.  Once an individual has had a check or payment returned to the Registry for insufficient funds or any other reason, only a money order or certified bank check will be accepted for future transactions.  The Registry will no longer accept personal checks from said individual/s.

• · FRADULENT practices.  NAAKR will revoke registration certification for individual dogs and/or refuse to register dogs bred and/or owned by individuals who have committed any infraction of the rules and regulations.

• · NO CHANGE in, or alteration of, a certificate of registration, listing or identification shall be made except by NAAKR upon proper showing of the necessity for such change or alteration, by reason of mistake or the like, or change in color or markings; nor shall any person display or advertise or have in his possession any such certificate that has been changed or altered otherwise than by NAAKR.

Procedures of Revoked Registrations

• ·      Dog/s are dropped from the stud book rolls.

• ·      A notice of invalid certificate is sent to the registered owners of the dogs.

• ·      A notice is published on the Registry web site.

• ·      No offspring may be registered from dogs with invalid certificates.

• ·      Future registration transactions will not be accepted from the breeder/s or owner/s unless reinstatement is possible.

Service Subscriber Breeder Home Page Packages

All dogs featured or advertised on Breeder Home Pages must be NAAKR registered.

NAAKR, Inc., as owner of the domain www.kelpiesinc.com, reserves the right

to edit and / or refuse any and all content on applications for Breeder Home Pages.
