Fawn puppy with tan points in litter of red pups with tan points.
Sire: R/Bred Heel Nippin' Reggie (Red/tan, his sire is a fawn, dam is a black/tan -- carries the red gene)
Dam: Eon M'Naughten Rule (Red/tan, her sire is black/tan -- carrying red gene and dam is black/tan -- carrying red gene)
This is a good picture of a fawn with tan points. He appears to be a rosey-silver color. The head is slightly lighter in color. Some say he is the color of concrete --- I agree, when he sits or lays on concrete, he is really camoflaged.
Sire: Jambo Cleet (Fawn)
Dam: R/Bred Heel Nippin' Halley (Black/tan)
Sometimes a fawn will have a darker colored dorsal stripe (area down back). This will sometimes fade and blend as the pup mature. Sometimes, the color is slightly darker than the rest of the coat.
Sometimes the fawn color is mistaken for silver or blue. Genetically, they are two entirely different colors. See the "Color Comparison" page for a comparison of blue to fawn.
Sire: Jambo Latigo (fawn, his sire is blue, his dam's color is unknown)
Dam: Jambo Jo (red/tan, her parents color is unknown)
This photograph was taken in June 2001. This is a fawn without tan points. As evidenced by the photograph, his head is lighter than his body color. The dorsal area is slightly darker than the rest of the coat. He is a dull color, caused by the flattening of the chocolate (bb) gene.
This photograph was taken July 13, 2003. A front shot to show the lighter colored head area. Cleet's eye color changes from a light pale green to olive green to a light amber color.
This photograph was taken July 13, 2003. The head area is getting lighter with every year of age. He is now exhibiting a golden tint to the tips of the coat hair.
Not a very flattering photograph because he's standing on a hill. The color is sometimes said to resemble the color of a wet cardboard box. This was a very good description of the color!
A lighter color can be detected on the muzzle, flank, hock and at the elbow area.
